Heathland Walk
Join us on Friday 2nd August between 1000 - 1200 for a 2-hour guided walk around some of the heathland on the Silverlake Estate.

Heathlands are home to a diverse array of species, some of which rely solely on heathland environments for survival. At Silverlake we are working to create and restore heathland habitats to help provide this unique environment for the many declining species that use it.

During the walk we will stop to identify some of the unique heathland plants and catch invertebrates with a large sweep net, as well as bird watching and reptile refugia checks. Everyone is welcome to come along and learn more about the wonderful world of heathland.

  • Please meet at the Activity Hub 5 minutes before.
  • Bring binoculars! If you don't have any, please let us know and we can bring spares.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, we will be outside for the duration of the walk.
  • Please wear appropriate footwear, we might be going off the paths and the ground could be uneven.
  • Children are welcome.
  • No dogs please as they could scare the wildlife.
